Alley Cat Cards

While perusing Facebook, I saw a post today that caught my eye. The only Facebook card groups I am still apart of are JOANN Loves Papercrafters and a handful of Melody Lane and Cricut groups. The Anna Griffin Facebook groups are too filled with toxicity from the various mods. Today on Joann's, Anthony M showcased a fantastic blending technique with a bricks embossing folder using Distress Oxide. You can watch his full tutorial here. 

Blending always looked like next level work. It's something I've avoided for about five years since I started my papercrafting journey. Today, thanks to Anthony, I took the plunge and invested in some distress oxides and an assortment of blending brushes. I used a variety of colors but the main stamp and die set I used were Tim Holtz's Cat Chat. All the coloring of the stamps were done with Copic Markers.

I made four cards and assembled them after an assortment of sketches found on a variety of blogs. So without further ado:

The simple sketch of the day came from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

And here's my interpretation:

I used an assortment of blue oxides for the background and two different Cool Greys for the cat.

Over on My Favorite Things, they offered this slightly trickier sketch:

And here's my interpretation of that sketch:

I used only one red distress oxide. I also used miscellaneous scraps from my craft box for the cut outs. The one cat was colored with a rose Copic marker, while the other cat is a mix of yellow and rose. In between the cracks I colored in with white color pencil to make the background pop more.

Atlantic Hearts made me think about what I made, and I ended up cutting up my paper to fit this sketch:

Here's the result:

Here I blended earth tones for the background and used a tan Copic Marker.

Finally, I am waiting for approval from Outlawz, so I can showcase their sketch:

Once approved, I will be submitting this card:

Rather than two dots around the sentiment, I offset it with two little fishbones.

The process was definitely time consuming, but the cards look absolutely gorgeous. I also enjoy the process of blending. I look forward to getting my toes even wetter with distress oxides in the very near future.
