Bugs and Kisses Card

In some great news, I was the featured creator on Making the Cards for challenge #25. Be sure to check out their site for some great inspiration and feel free to leave comments on their blog acknowledging some fantastic work! Over on AAA Cards , they had a challenge of Along the Edge. This means making a nice Clean and Simple card with the edge used as a way to enhance the overall look of the card. Here's the challenge in question: The optional twist had me utilizing Dry Embossing. I have a ton of embossing folders so I knew this would be a perfect challenge for me.  The card I'm submitting to the challenge is this bee card. I was inspired by the various bug cards I've been making and this hive like embossing folder I owned. This stamp came from Jillibean . Here's the result: I loved the way the card looked so much with the edge embossed and the stamp off to the side, that I ended up making a few more. The follow cards use Sweet Kawaii Design stamps: And here's th...

Llama Twinchie Card

Over on AAA Birthday they had the most unusual challenge this week. The challenge involved using a twinchie. What's a twinchie you ask? They describe it as "a square, circle or hexagon up to 2" (5cm)."  Here's the challenge in question: I recently acquired my Cricut Maker 3, and so I've really taken time away from Stamping and Die Cutting to utilize my new Maker. I knew I wanted to layer some image of some kind. Originally I was thinking of a mandala-effect on an animal. I looked at owls and bears and frogs and a whole menagerie of other animals. But when I stumbled upon this llama I knew I had to do it. So here is my end result: The layering created an almost stamp like appearance. It's actually quite striking. Here's the card standing upright. I'm loving the return to a Cricut product to make cards that feel impossible otherwise. Feliz Cumpleanos Flower Birthday Cards

Over on AAA Birthday , they released one of the easiest challenges in a while; simply, use flowers! And it just so happened that I recently received a request from the Spanish teacher at my school. She asked that I make two Feliz Cumpleanos birthday cards, and (no joke here) she said, "use lots of flowers. They love flowers." So here's AAA Birthday's challenge: And talk about kismet because HSN finally delivered my Anna Griffin Mini Flower and Foliage Die Set . I immediately got to work and so here are the two results: I have to say, I just adore how these flowers came out. I used some old flower cardstock from a Michael's Hot Buy pad and the Feliz Cumpleanos sentiment was made using my Cricut Joy. The background blue die cut was made using an Anna Griffin die set, but that set seems to longer be available for purchase. For my second card, I used the same Mini Flower set: For the background die cut I used the 3D Decorative Layer Dies . Again, the Feliz Cumpleanos ...

Hot Air Balloon Cards: AAA Birthday

Over on AAA Birthday , the challenge set forth is one of my favorite challenges. Making cards in a shape. While I don't do this too often, there's no doubt that cards that are not conventionally shaped are always eye catching. Here is the full challenge: Just this week I acquired my all new Anna Griffin Hot Air Balloon Easel die , so I quickly got to work. When the card is laying flat, it looks like this: But with the card unfolding, it suddenly pops up and looks like this: What I love is that easel cards or individual shaped cards can often take forever to make. Not these, which clocked in around the 45 minute mark. Using vibrant colors, it really gave that Hot Air Balloon feel. What the camera doesn't capture is the gold diamonds I placed in between the top section. Those gold glimmery sections also give this card another dimension. And because I can never make one of anything, here's another with a totally different color combination. I used the rainbow cutouts from ...
