This week The Card Concept showcased another inspiration photo. As soon as I saw this week's photo, I knew exactly which paper pads to grab and get to work because this week's image was none other than a seashell image: I love nothing more than mermaid-like cards. If anything, in my craft room in the back there's an overabundance of ocean and mermaid themed craft items. Something about the configuration of the sea shells made it clear that I didn't want to make anything too over-embellished. Instead, I thought elegance and clean layers.  So this is my clean and layered  sea-inspired card.  I used my Mermaid Coast paper pad to create the base, then I used the same paper pad to layer the mermaid gold and again for the main circle. The just for you  and the various sea shells were made using my colop e-mark printer . I found the wooden seahorse at Michael's in the clearance section and glued it on to give the card a little extra dimension and texture.  As always, I m

I took the last two weeks off from card making, but inspiration struck me this week when I received my Anna Griffin Birthday Decoupage Dies . I absolutely adored the die set and was excited to get to work. This week, I stumbled upon Get Creative Challenges which offered a great sketch layout for the challenge. Here's the sketch: Normally, I'm a pretty big stickler for following the sketch layout. But with the birthday theme and the paper I was using, I had to put the long strip as the lowest dimension. I then used 3D adhesive dots for the circle and even large 3D adhesive dots for the square to give it a little more dimension. Here was my final product: In person, this is a much cooler looking card than how it's captured on camera. That said, a slightly angled shot shows you how much dimension there really is here. This week's card idea comes courtesy of AAA Birthday who specializes in Birthday Card Challenges. This week's challenge is a game challenge (my favorite kind of challenges). This is what the tic tac toe board looks like this week: I just recently purchased a plethora of washi tape and stamps from Wonton in a Million . I went for the center vertical row: embossing, washi and window.   Here's my end result: I used the washi tape at a slant. The heart emboss folder came from Park Lane . I used 3D adhesive dots to make sure the heart window showed proper dimension. And because I had my washi tape out, I decided to make a few more cards. Here were some of the other results. Here was another window and embossed card.  And here's a window card sans embossing. Finally, I just used the washi tape and stamps to make a fourth card. Over on My Favorite Things they are celebrating their 500th Sketch Challenge. What a milestone! This week's sketch challenge was so beautiful I couldn't help but participate. Like my entry for the Diversity Cards , I used paper from Capitol Chic Designs and a stamp from Hero Arts . This was the sketch challenge this week: And here was my creation: I happened to also have some Paris paper from an old C'est La Vie paper pad. I used 3D adhesive dots both in front of the heart and on the pink banner to really make the heart pop. Take a look from a different angle: And that's my submission this week. This week's challenge comes courtesy of The Card Concept . Unlike other blogs, The Card Concept showcases a challenge inspiration photo. Let's take a look at the photo for this week: What I love about the Christmas tree is how it's at the center with the presents strewn about. I also like the white and gold that are accentuated throughout the photo. All too often, Christmas relies on red and green, and while I love that, something here reminded me almost of a Martha Stewart Christmas with whites and golds. With that in mind, I ordered these Anna Griffin Christmas Tree Dies specifically for the challenge. Thankfully, they came in quick, and I got right to work. My first card that I made (and that I am submitting), accentuates the presents along the bottom of the photo. The gold is gorgeous (which is a bit hard to capture in pictures because it's so reflective).
