Unboxing and Using Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine Issue 204

Yesterday I went to Michael's and finally purchased Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine Issue 204. In today's YouTube video, I go through the materials and make a card. In addition to the card I made, take a look at some of my other creations below:

The first two cards use the dog house and the "A house is not a home without a..." The first card I made uses both the paper and the stamps. Using Copic Markers, I colored in the dog house. In the second card, I used the exact same set-up, but I want to make sure I used the mini emboss folder that came with the issue. It doesn't quite pop like the red house; nevertheless, it's still cute.

The next two sets of cards use the cat stamp and the "You're the cat's whiskers!" stamp included. The fourth card was made first, but this left me with some scraps, so I collaged them for the background to create a little depth. Then I put some washi tape across to unify the three separate pieces of cardstock. As always, the 3D dot adhesives give these a nice dimension.

Anna Griffin Empress Machine Review

For the past few months, I've really given my Anna Griffin Empress Machine a workout. For those not in the know, The Empress is a high powered non-crank emboss and die cutting machine. It's akin to devices such as the Cuttlebug, The Big Shot, or the Gemini. I Have a Cricut / Cameo / Silhouette - Why This? The short answer is, you can create texture in your cards. While the aforementioned devices are no doubt powerful and create designs that the Empress can only dream about, there's no doubt that emboss machines give textures and creates intricacy that cutting machines cannot compete with. Anna Griffin's Slimline Compendium Dies Review

Anna Griffin's new Slimline Compendium dies feel essential. In the past few months, several companies as well as crafters showcased Slimline cards. These much taller (and much slimmer) cards measuring an astounding 8" x 9" and fit into business sized envelopes. They looked attractive, and while no doubt, anyone could cut the base with a bone folder and a paper cutter, the dimensions feel so unwieldy, it does feel intimidating. Enter Anna Griffin's Slimline Compendium Dies. Now everyone knows that I'm one of Anna Griffin's biggest fans. The Empress is to me, bar none, the best die cutter out there. The Card Concept #138d Entry: Seashell Cards

This week The Card Concept showcased another inspiration photo. As soon as I saw this week's photo, I knew exactly which paper pads to grab and get to work because this week's image was none other than a seashell image: I love nothing more than mermaid-like cards. If anything, in my craft room in the back there's an overabundance of ocean and mermaid themed craft items. Something about the configuration of the sea shells made it clear that I didn't want to make anything too over-embellished. Instead, I thought elegance and clean layers. So this is my clean and layered sea-inspired card. I used my Mermaid Coast paper pad to create the base, then I used the same paper pad to layer the mermaid gold and again for the main circle. The just for you and the various sea shells were made using my colop e-mark printer .
